Biography
Katie Kothenbeutel is a dedicated professional with a rich background in library services and educational program development. Currently serving as a Career Services Librarian at Arapahoe Library District since April 2023, Katie has been instrumental in spearheading initiatives aimed at empowering library patrons with valuable career education, counseling, and job search assistance within an educational setting. She has managed and curated comprehensive resources supporting career services, facilitating access to essential tools, career guides, and interview preparation materials. With a commitment to inclusivity, Katie played a pivotal role in initiating the development and implementation of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies and procedures as a founding member of the Inclusivity Committee.
Throughout her career, Katie has been deeply involved in program development and training. As a Reference Librarian from May 2018 to April 2023, she collaborated closely with the Career Services Librarian to provide tailored classes and one-on-one appointments, enhancing patrons' job application processes, resume writing, and job search strategies. Her dedication to staff development is evident through her role as a mentor to branch staff and her involvement in conducting training programs for both staff and patrons.
In her previous roles, including Library Associate at Englewood Library and Adjunct Instructor at Marshalltown Community College, Katie demonstrated her passion for adult education and community engagement. She developed and presented various adult programs, ranging from book clubs to computer classes, and provided personalized assistance to individuals seeking to enhance their skills and pursue career development opportunities.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Katie actively contributes to her community through volunteer work, including historical preservation projects and serving as a board member for the Sister Cities Association. With her fluency in Russian, intermediate proficiency in German, and limited Spanish skills, Katie brings a global perspective to her work. She is also equipped with financial coaching expertise, including budget planning and maintenance, further enriching her professional toolkit.
